Shakespeare in the Church

On Sunday October 15, at 4:00 p.m., acclaimed stage and TV actor Robert Milli will present a staged reading of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” at Trinity. This is an unusual and dynamic interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s most well known plays. Mr. Milli is uniquely qualified, having played the role of Horatio on Broadway in Richard Burton’s much admired version of “Hamlet,” as well as in the film.

Mr. Milli is able to bring all the characters into sharply delineated focus, each a distinct character, while keeping the poignancy of Shakespeare’s poetry, all of the tenderness of his feelings for Ophelia, his inner turmoil over the prospect of avenging his father, the anguish of Gertrude when confronted with the truth of her actions and the rakish humor of the Gravedigger. The entire range of emotions delineated by Shakespeare are encompassed in Mr. Milli’s performance.

Followers of TV soap opera may recognize Mr. Milli from CBS’s “Guiding Light” where he played Adam Thorpe for many years, or Dr. Jim Craig of “One Life to Live”. This is an opportunity to see him as a true classical actor.

The performance lasts about one hour.
A donation of $10.00 is suggested.
A reception with the actor will follow the performance.
