About our Pastor

Hello! My name is Beate Storck. I have been serving as pastor here at Trinity in Tenafly since August of 2009.

I grew up in a small town near Frankfurt in Germany. I studied Protestant Theology in Frankfurt, Montpellier/France and Hamburg, where I met my future husband, Arnd. An internship in a congregation in Wiesbaden followed. In order to complete my training as pastor, I also did a so-called special internship which took me to Namibia for one year. Being exposed to a different culture and language was really exciting and enriching.

After graduating, my husband and I had the opportunity to serve as interim pastors for the German Seamen’s Mission in New York and New Jersey. Working with seafarers from all over the world was another experience for which I am grateful. It gave us insights in to the lives and realities of seafarers, people we usually do not see, but who transport goods for all of us all over the world. In 1998 we moved to Jersey City where we lived for eleven years. During this time I served as an Intentional Interim Minister in various congregational settings, working on issues of transition, grief, and conflict mediation.

In the meantime I have come to truly enjoy being the pastor of Trinity for a number of reasons. Just to mention a few, Trinity is an open-minded congregation where discussions and learning about temporary issues are valued. The children’s ministry is appreciated; children take leadership roles during worship services on a regular basis. There is a concern for those who are struggling in their lives and the willingness to help. Trinity is a welcoming place that truly represents the Body of Christ.
