Tween Tot

The Tween Tot School was established in 1963 by members of Trinity Lutheran Church who wanted to provide their children with a quality pre-school experience. They created a loving, caring environment which was soon shared with friends and neighbors.

Today, this non-profit ministry continues to nurture children of the entire community and is open to al families of all races and faiths. The Tween Tot School offers quality pre-school programs that focus on the child developing a positive self-image while learning to interact with his/her peer group. A variety of learning, craft, music and movement activities are offered so that each child can develop to his/her full potential.

The Tween Tot School is an intentionally “small school” with limited class sizes. Pupils and teachers benefit from an excellent student/teacher ratio which allows an opportunity to focus on individual needs.

Program 1

This program is designed for 2 1/2 – 3 year old children. For many children this is a first time school experience. We gently ease them into the program and help them to overcome separation anxiety. Children have extensive opportunities for social interaction with their classmates which help build self confidence and positive self image.

In this program, children will learn colors, shapes, numbers and recognition. Activities are planned to develop fine/gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and basic cognitive and language skills. A weekly music class teaches rhythm and movement. Children begin each week with a brief Christian-based chapel experience.

Program 2

This program is designed for 4 – 5 year olds with the focus on kindergarten readiness. Children are encouraged to work independently, listen attentively, follow directions, and participate in group activities.

Throughout the year, activities are planned to strengthen gross/fine motor skills. The curriculum stresses academic skill and focuses on logical reasoning, problem solving, and memory. Reading and math readiness skills are developed in thematic units, such as: dinosaurs, ocean life, Indian peoples, health and safety, bugs and bees, etc.

Each week children are given a one-half hour, small group piano lesson. The week begins with a Christian-based chapel experience.
